BOSNIA & Herzegovina
Bosnia is located in the western Balkans, bordering Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. The country's name comes from the two regions Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have a very vaguely defined border between them. Bosnia occupies the northern areas which are roughly four-fifths of the entire country, while Herzegovina occupies the rest in the southern part of the country.The country is mostly mountainous, encompassing the central Dinaric Alps. Close to 50% of Bosnia and Herzegovina is forested. A true gem in the Balkans.
- The Orthodox Cathedral -
The Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos is the largest Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevoand one of the largest in the Balkans.The cathedral is dedicated to the nativity of the Theotokos. It was erected at the request of the Orthodox parish of Sarajevo between 1863 and 1868.
The church is constructed as a three-section basilica inscribed in a cross-shaped plan, and has five domes. The domes are built on the beams; the central one is much larger than the other four side domes. The church is arched by round elements.
The interior walls are decorated by painted ornaments.

Today it has been a beautiful sunny day, in the afternoon a bit of hazeIt was formed in the valley where the city of Sarajevo is located. The surrounding hills are partially covered, but when there is a rift between the wall of fog, the sun's rays, which is setting, creates beautiful effects, the neighborhoods in the hills around the city appear from the fog with their homes and mosques .

- City Hall -
Sarajevo's City Hall, a stately neo-Moorish building, marked by the violence of two 20th-century wars, has returned to its old glory in 2014 after being destroyed by Serb shelling during the siege of the city in 1992. The building, first opened in 1896, has been restored to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War, triggered by the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand just after he left a reception there in June 1914. Converted into the National Library in 1949, it went up in flames during the war in August 1992, destroying almost two million books including many rare and priceless volumes reflecting its multicultural life under the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires.

The area where is the waterfall Skakavac its about 10 km out of Sarajevo, and even though I am just outside the city limits, nature is incredible, hills covered with endless woods and meadows. The colors are amazing. In this picture I'm in the vicinity of the waterfall that, because it is autumn, does not have, a water flow rate worthy of the name of waterfall, but the small stream that is formed falls to the valley through green clearings getting lost inside a forest literally blood red.

- The Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque -
This magnificent mosque was built in the 16th century and is the largest historical mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most representative structures in the Ottoman Balkans. It is located in the heart of the city in the famous Stari Grad. The mosque is quite bare and simple, in contrast to the grandiose mosques I've seen in Asia and in Turkey, but the visual effect of light filtering through the windows is impressive. Columns of light that seem to hold the high walls and the rest of the structure.

- Walk in the Countryside -
The thick blanket of fog that you can see in the distance is the haze that often forms in the valley where there is Sarajevo. Leave that grey hood I realise that the day is beautiful and sunny. I take a taxi that leaves me in the countryside around the city where I was told that there are walks up the surrounding mountains. After a few hours of walking, the view is beautiful, the air is clean and the sun warms my face.

- The New Library -
The lobby of the library of Sarajevo is beautiful, its architecture follows the hexagonal shape of the original building. The best way that I could think of to capture the geometry is to use a very wide-angle lens and place my camera on the floor, pointed up. So you can appreciate the glass dome at the center of the vault, the columns of the second floor and the magnificent lighting that makes it one of the most surprising of Sarajevo.

I must say that I have been to visit the library for two consecutive days, because the first time I came there were far too many visitors to appreciate the space, the architecture and try to play with the geometry to make up my photos. But despite the large turnout, with a bit of patience some shots decent came out, like this guy who does a selfie on the grand staircase leading to the first floor of the building.

Fortunately the floors of Sarajevo's library are definitely very clean. I have spent a lot of time lying down and sitting on the floor looking for the most extreme shots, trying to take advantage of the geometry and architecture of the interior.

- Light Show -
The Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque is completely empty, I can feel the rub of my socks on the carpet. In the absolute silence every time I take a picture the sound of the shutter of my camera mechanism seems a gunshot. The rays coming from the windows are cascades of light.
I see the dust that passes through the sun light, the particles ranging from below upwards, it seems that it rains in reverse, from the floor to the ceiling.

The Library of Sarajevo has become the symbol of the city's resistance during the war. The Siege of Sarajevo was the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. After initially being besieged by the forces of the Yugoslav People's Army, Sarajevo was besieged by the Army of Republika Srpska from 5 April 1992 to 29 February 1996 During the Bosnian War. The siege Lasted three times longer than the Siege of Stalingrad and a year longer than the Siege of Leningrad. It is estimated That 9.502 to 14.011 people were killed During the siege, including soldiers from 4.548 to 8.407 and 4.954 to 5.604 Civilians.

The tower's clock is the only public clock in the world that keeps lunar time (“à la Turk”), to indicate the times for the daily prayers. According to this system, the new day begins at sunset, when the time is shown as 12:00.Since the length of the days change throughout the solar year, it was the duty of a muvekit (timekeeper) to maintain the clock’s accuracy. In the courtyard of Bey’s Mosque there is one kind of observatory, a muvekithana, which is where the exact time would be calculated with the help of careful techniques and sensitive instruments.
